Hylenex Filler Dissolver FAQs

Everything you need to know before your first appointment — or your next one.

What is Hylenex?
Hylenex is a filler dissolver — an injectable enzyme (hyaluronidase) that breaks down hyaluronic acid dermal filler that has been previously placed. It’s most commonly used to dissolve lip filler but can also be used in the cheeks, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and jawline.
Yes. Hyaluronidase is a well-established treatment for reversing hyaluronic acid-based fillers. When performed by a trained provider at Alani Skin MD, it is a safe and effective way to correct unwanted filler results, over-filled areas, or migration.
Most patients see the filler dissolve within 24–48 hours as the enzyme breaks down the hyaluronic acid. Some cases may require more than one session depending on how much filler was originally placed and how long ago it was injected.
Yes but it’s recommended to wait at least 2–4 weeks after dissolving before placing new filler. This allows the area to fully settle and gives your provider a clean baseline to work from when building your new treatment plan.
If you want to reduce the fullness provided by fillers but not completely dissolve them, a smaller dose of Hylenex can be injected. Your Alani provider will customize the amount used based on your goals — whether that’s full correction, partial softening, or targeted removal of a specific area.
