Moxi Laser FAQs: Skin Rejuvenation & Prevention Questions

Everything you need to know before your first appointment — or your next one.

What is Moxi Laser and what does it treat?
Moxi is a gentle, non-ablative fractional laser treatment designed to revitalize skin and address early signs of aging with minimal downtime. It creates microscopic channels in the skin to stimulate the body’s natural healing process and boost collagen production — improving skin tone, texture, uneven pigmentation, and sun damage. It’s one of the most popular “prejuvenation” laser treatments in the Phoenix area.
Moxi is non-ablative, meaning it treats the skin without removing the outer layer — delivering improvement with significantly less downtime than CO2 or CoolPeel. CO2 and CoolPeel are ablative lasers that resurface the skin’s surface for more aggressive correction of deeper wrinkles and sun damage. Moxi is the better fit for patients with early or mild skin concerns, younger patients focused on prevention, or anyone who can’t accommodate extended downtime.
Yes — Moxi is suitable for all skin types and tones, making it one of the most inclusive laser options available at Alani Skin MD. Its gentle, non-ablative approach carries a lower risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation compared to more aggressive laser treatments, making it a strong option for patients with darker skin tones or those new to laser treatments in the Phoenix and Scottsdale area.
Moxi is frequently called a “lunchtime treatment” because downtime is minimal — most patients experience some redness and a sandpaper-like texture to the skin for 2–3 days as the treated skin gently exfoliates. Most patients see noticeable skin quality improvement within 1–2 weeks, with results continuing to build as collagen production increases over the following weeks.
Most patients complete 1–3 initial treatments, with an optional annual maintenance session to sustain results. Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for 1–2 weeks before your appointment, and discontinue blood thinners and retinoids one week prior as directed by your Alani provider. After treatment, use a mild cleanser, avoid harsh skincare products for at least a week, and apply broad-spectrum SPF consistently for at least 6 weeks.
