What is the CoolPeel Laser and how does it work?
CoolPeel is a CO2 laser treatment designed to deliver the skin resurfacing benefits of a traditional CO2 laser, improving sun damage, age spots, fine lines, wrinkles, and texture with minimal to no downtime after each session. Rather than a single aggressive treatment, CoolPeel spreads the results across 3 sessions, making it ideal for patients who want meaningful laser improvement without the 10-day recovery window of a full CO2 treatment.
Both use the same CO2 laser technology to resurface the skin, but at different intensities. Full CO2 laser delivers deeper, more aggressive treatment in one session with approximately 10 days of downtime. CoolPeel delivers the same laser energy in a more controlled, lower-intensity way across 3 sessions — each with minimal downtime — accumulating to a comparable result over the course of the treatment series. CoolPeel is the better fit for patients with busy schedules or lifestyle constraints who can’t accommodate extended recovery.
CoolPeel is particularly effective for sun damage and age spots as well as fine lines, wrinkles, rough skin texture, and overall skin tone unevenness. It treats the face, neck, and décolleté for a comprehensive resurfacing result.
The full CoolPeel treatment series consists of 3 sessions. Unlike full CO2 laser, each CoolPeel session requires minimal to no downtime — most patients return to normal activity the same day or within 1–2 days. Some redness and mild sensitivity is expected immediately after each session but resolves quickly.
Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 2 weeks before your first session, and discontinue blood thinners and retinoids one week prior as directed by your Alani provider.
