Acne Bootcamp FAQs: Clearing Acne in Phoenix & Scottsdale

Everything you need to know before your first appointment — or your next one.

What is the Alani Skin MD Acne Bootcamp and how does it work?
Acne Bootcamp is a holistic, personalized acne clearing program — not a one-time facial. It begins with a comprehensive consultation to evaluate your specific acne triggers including diet, hormones, stress levels, cosmetics, and lifestyle. From there, your Alani provider builds a customized in-office treatment plan paired with take-home product recommendations tailored to your skin type and acne pattern.
Clearing acne takes time and consistency. The Acne Bootcamp typically requires 6–12 treatments over a 3–6 month period depending on your skin type, the severity of your acne, and how your skin responds to treatment. Most patients begin seeing meaningful improvement within the first few sessions as congestion clears and breakouts become less frequent.
Over-the-counter products treat the surface. Dermatologists often focus on prescription medications. The Alani Acne Bootcamp combines professional in-office treatments with a customized home care protocol and ongoing provider guidance — addressing the root causes of your acne, not just the symptoms. It’s a proactive, skin-coach approach that adapts as your skin changes throughout the program.
The program addresses a wide range of acne types — including hormonal acne, cystic acne, comedonal acne (blackheads and whiteheads), and acne related to stress, diet, or product use. During your initial consultation, your Alani provider will identify which type or combination of acne types you’re dealing with and build a plan accordingly. The face and neck are both treatable areas.
Avoid picking or popping pimples at all costs — this leads to inflammation, bacteria spread, and scarring that can take months to fade. During your program, follow the customized protocol your provider gives you closely, including the recommended home care products. Introducing new skincare products or treatments not approved by your provider can disrupt your progress and make it harder to identify what’s working.
